Possible New Driving Test For 2016 : Trials Now Taking Place Back
A small percentage of instructors in the UK have been conducting trials for a new driving test which could become standard in the UK from around 2016.
The new test could consist of:
Follow a Satnav
For Approximately 20 minutes of the driving test you would be asked to follow directions from a Satnav. Following a Satnav will make the test more realistic.
Two New Manoeuvres
The new test would eliminate the Turn in the road and reverse around the corner and incorporate either one of two new Manoeuvres or parallel parking.
- To drive forwards into a bay and then reverse out
- To pull up on the right side of the road, reversing a short distance and then rejoin traffic
Show me questions on the move
At present the show me questions are done at the start of the test. The new test will involve answering show me questions on the move. For example you may be asked how operate the heater or wash the windscreen whilst driving.
